Gilby Clarke

Gilby Clarke is a guitarist, born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 17, 1962. He spent his childhood playing with musical instruments and neglecting school. In the early 1980's, Gilby was part of a pop band called Candy. Candy released one album before Gilby moved on to a mainstream metal band called Kill For Thrills.

Guns N' Roses

Gilby Clarke started in Guns during the Use Your Illusion Tour. Oddly enough,he didn't have any parts recorded during Use Your Illusion II, partly due to the fact that it had been recorded after he joined. This of course runs back to the first song on Use Your Illusion II, Civil War, which does not include Izzy Stradlin or Gilby, instead having Slash play all the guitars. The other odd point to be made is Stradlin left the band when Matt Sorum joined and made the band sound heavier in contrast to the last drummer, Steven Adler, but the only song reorded with Adler cuts out Izzy completely.

Officially, Gilby appeared on "The Spaghetti Incident?" wih GNR followed by the recording of the track "Sympathy for the Devil" for the film Interview with the Vampire, but Gilby's carer with GNR wouldn't end, as Gilby soon enlisted the original Guns N'Roses guitarist Tracii Guns to make an album of the roots of Guns N' Roses known as Hollywood Rose, recording guitar parts with him and Tracii Guns over the original parts.
