Ghetto Gospel

"Ghetto Gospel" is a posthumous song by rapper Tupac Shakur, on his 2004 album Loyal to the Game. The song features Elton John, as it samples his song "Indian Sunset" from his 1971 album Madman Across the Water. The track shows the evil in society and 2Pac states a number of reasons as to why our lives are ruled by fear. Towards the end of the music video 2Pac is shot (or, supposedly the man representing him) but his appearance at his own funeral leaves questions unanswered. At the very end of the video there is a message from his mother (Afeni Shakur) saying "Remember to keep yourself alive, there is nothing more important than that".

This song is often criticized for its 'cut and paste' feeling, as Tupacs lyrics were sped up, slowed down, and cut and pasted to make them fit the beat. Critics have pointed out parts of the songs do not even sound like Tupac, as a technique of overlaying slowed and sped up tracks is particulary apparent on several occasions.

On 26 June 2005, it knocked the Crazy Frog song "Axel F" off the number 1 spot in the UK, giving him his first UK number 1 single, beating his previous peak of number 3 with the song "Changes" in 1999. It was later knocked off the chart by James Blunt's "You're Beautiful". The song also debuted at #1 in Australia.
