George W. Bush
Religious beliefs and practices
After meeting with evangelist Billy Graham in 1985, http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A24634-2004Sep15_2.html Bush became more involved in religion. It was also during this period that he left the family's Episcopal Church in the United States of America and joined his wife's denomination, the United Methodist Church. This decision reflected Bush's conversion experience during these years, prompting him to move towards a faith community that embraced a more conservative religious belief system.

Currently Bush is known for his private daily morning Bible study periods, and for the Thursday lunch Bible study meetings which he sponsors at the White House. While he invariably shies away from directly discussing the particulars of his faith, he is known to generally advocate conservative Christian religious values. His strong Christian beliefs might be evidenced in the extreme if he had really claimed that his invasion of Iraq was an instruction from God as reported by an Australian news site. On the other hand, White House spokesman Scott McClellan denied these reportings: "That's absurd. He's never made such comments," http://www.breitbart.com/news/2005/10/07/051007131357.nstalu7a.html, http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/10/20051006-6.html, the reportings were also denied by Mahmoud Abbas. http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/abbas-denies-bushs-mission-from-god-remark/2005/10/08/1128563027485.html
