George Murray
The Right Hon. Sir George Murray, GCB (February 6 1772 – July 28 1846) was a British soldier and politician, the second son of Sir William Murray, 5th Baronet. He was briefly in Canada from December 1814 to May 1815 where he was appointed provisional Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada and reviewed the defenses of Canada.

The Murray River in Australia and Murray House in Hong Kong are named in honour of him. He was Member of Parliament for Perthshire in Scotland, and the city of Perth, Western Australia is also (indirectly) named in his honour.
