George Goldie
Sir George Dashwood Taubman Goldie was a European explorer born in the 1840s who completed charting the Niger River. He founded the Royal Niger Company, using it as an engine to buy and produce Nigerian palm oil and sell it for an immense profit to Europeans. As a result of Goldie founding this company, Nigeria began to westernize and in 1900 was colonized by the United Kingdom.
