Genya Ravan

Genya Ravan aka Goldie Zelkowitz (born Genyusha Zelkowitz, Lodz, Poland) is a American rock singer and producer. She is the former lead-singer of The Escorts, Goldie & the Gingerbreads, and Ten Wheel Drive.

Genyusha Zelkowitz arrived in the USA in 1947, accompanied by her parents and one sister. These were the last familly members, who had survived the Nazi-Holocaust in Europe. Her early youth and subsequent career as a musician look just like what you expect on a Rock-musician's personal data-sheet: difficult childhood, wrong friends, hassles with the family-tradition, premature marriage, outbreak and the attempt to be on her own.
