The band Gene Loves Jezebel is legendary, especially to any fan of challenging and confrontational music. Back in the early 80's, the band led by twin brothers Michael and Jay Aston was a clear cut above the rest of the post-punk movement. Once Michael left the band in 1989, however, Gene Loves Jezebel went more mainstream. That all changed when Michael reformed the band in 1993. Jay took his twin brother to court in 1997 in the Los Angeles Superior Court and an awful court battle ensued. Jay eventually dropped all charges "with prejudice" meaning Michael can never be challenged for the name again and consequently owns the exclusive rights to the mark. Michael trademarked the name "Gene Loves Jezebel" and toured both the U.S. and the U.K. extensively. While all of these exciting events were going on, Jay started a smear campaign trying to convince fans that Michael "stole" the Gene Loves Jezebel name and that he is not the real band. During this time, which leads us to current day in fact, Michael and Gene Loves Jezebel recorded, released, and toured for three brand new albums:
