Gaume

Gaume is a region in the extreme south of Belgium and its altitude is lower than the Ardennes. The region is limited by the frontier with France and Luxembourg and by the Belgian Ardennes in the north.

The Lorrain language, a langue d'o?l different from the Walloon language, is spoken as a minority language in Gaume where it is known as Gaumais. This regional language is in decline but various local authors are trying to revive its usage. It is recognised as a regional language of Wallonia.
