Galicia (Spain)

Provinces and Cities
Since 1833, Galicia has been divided in four administrative provinces:
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
- A Coruņa (La Coruņa in Spanish),
- Ourense (Orense in Spanish),
- Pontevedra, and
- Lugo.
The main cities are Vigo, A Coruņa (La Coruņa in Spanish and, historically, Corunna in English), Pontevedra, Lugo, Ferrol, Ourense (Orense in Spanish), and Santiago de Compostela, the region's capital and archiepiscopal seat, and home of the shrine which gave rise medieval Europe's most famous pilgrimage route, The Way of St James.
