Gabor Sisters Biography

In the early 1900's in Hungary, Jolie and Vilmos Gabor gave birth to 3 of the most famous actresses in the world. First Eva Gabor was born in 1918, then Magda was also born in 1918, and finally Zsa Zsa in 1919. The Gabor Sisters were famous for their many marriages, and their loves of diamonds and furs. Jolie and Vilmos moved their daughters to New York in the late 1940's, and Jolie and her 3 daughters decided that they wanted to move to sunny California and make a face for themselves in Hollywood. But Vilmos was not to supportive of this, so Jolie and Vilmos got a divorce and Vilmos moved back to Hungary. The Gabor Sisters made multiple appearances on TV programs. In the 50's they were seen at a Hollywood party, and famous Hollywood figures decided that they would be great in pictures, so they talked to them and the sisters agreed that they would enjoy making a career in Motion Pictures. Zsa Zsa, and Magda did not do too well in the Motion Picture Industry.

But Eva's film career blossomed. One of Eva's first roles was in the 1958 Classic GiGi. In the 60's Eva became a household name, when she was starred as Lisa Douglas, in the long running TV show Green Acres, which ran from 1964-1971. Zsa Zsa soon started to make more films as well.

In the late 60's trials and strains started to appear for the Gabor Sisters. In the 60's Magda had a serious fall in her estate in Beverly Hills, but she recovered quickly. Then in 1964 thieves who were trying to steal her diamonds attacked Eva Gabor, and she was seriously injured. Then in 1968, Zsa Zsa divorced Prince Philip. She soon became so depressed and sad that she was submitted to an institution and put through Electro-Shock Therapy, and many other brutal treatments. But they quickly recovered, and regained their popularity, beauty, and talent.

In the 80's Eva's career was suffering, but Zsa Zsa really started to get going in her film career, and she made cameos in many films. Then in 1990 Eva rejoined Eddie Albert for the Green Acres Reunion Movie, Return To Green Acres. In 1995 Eva Gabor died of food poisoning, making her the first Gabor to die. Then in 1997, Magda died after an accident, and in 1997 Jolie Gabor died at the age of 97 of natural causes. Zsa Zsa is still alive, and once in a while makes an appearance. She currently resides in Beverly Hills, California with her husband.
