Fuglebjerg

Fuglebjerg is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Storstr?m County on the south coast of the island of Zealand (Sj?lland) in south Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 141 km?, and has a total population of 6,582 (2005). Its mayor is Henrik Willadsen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.

The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Fuglebjerg.

Neighboring municipalities are N?stved to the east, Sus? to the northeast, Sor? to the north, Hash?j and Sk?lsk?r to the west. To the south is Karreb?ksminde Bay (Karreb?ksminde Bugt).

By January 1, 2007 Fuglebjerg municipality will cease to exist, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Flads?, N?stved, Holmegaard, and Sus? municipalities to form the new N?stved municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 681 km? and a total population of 78,446 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Sj?lland ("Zealand Region").
