Friedrich Bechstein


 

Friedrich Bechstein is a German manufacturer of pianos, especially Grand pianos, the company being founded in the 1850s by Carl Bechstein. In 1901 he built the Bechstein Concert Hall adjacent to his London showroom, which was expropriated and renamed to Wigmore Hall in WWI. Before WW1 the company also had concert halls in Saint Petersburg and Paris. Bechstein was always in competition to Steinway & Sons until WW2.
