The Freedom Tower is the name given to the planned centerpiece building of the new World Trade Center in New York City, whose predecessor was destroyed in the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Depending on the angle viewing it, the Freedom Tower is designed to appear to be either a rectangular shape like the previous towers, or as a massive obelisk design. The walls at the base are offset 45 degrees from the walls of the highest floor with interlocking triangle facades.

A revised design was unveiled on June 29, 2005. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2006, 4.5 years after the World Trade Center's destruction and 3.5 years after The Pentagon was completely reconstructed. The Freedom Tower could be completed by 2010.
