Freddie King (September 3 1934-December 28 1976) was a blues guitarist and singer.

He was born Frederick Christian in Gilmer, Texas in 1934. He moved with his family to Chicago in 1950, where he began playing in local clubs.

His instrumental, Hide Away, recorded in the 1961, was later covered by Eric Clapton and John Mayall. King had a strong influence on blues-rock musicians such as Clapton, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
