He was the deputy chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party (BPP) when he was shot to death in his apartment during a raid by an elite tactical unit of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office (SAO), facilitated by the Chicago Police Department (CPD) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
