Dr. Franz Alt (Born 1910 in Austria) - American mathematician who made major contributions to computer science in its early days. As a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army he worked on the ENIAC and other computing projects; later he worked in the Computing Laboratory of the National Bureau of Standards. He is a founding member and a former president of the Association for Computing Machinery.
