Some infamous incidents occurred at the stadium during the Eagles' tenure there. In a December 1968 game against the Minnesota Vikings, Eagles fans booed a young man dressed as Santa Claus and pelted him with snowballs during the halftime show. In 1970, play-by-play announcer Howard Cosell was apparently drunk as he broadcast the nationally televised Eagles-Giants Monday Night Football game. After eventually throwing up on fellow announcer Don Meredith's celebrated cowboy boots, Cosell left the stadium midway through the game. Denying drunkenness, he later claimed among other things that his dizziness resulted from running laps around the famous Franklin Field track before the game with track star Tommie Smith.
