Franka Potente (born July 22, 1974 in Dülmen, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German actress.

Spotted by a casting agent at the age of 19, she studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York. After a notable debut in It's a Jungle Out There and two unconventional movies by Tom Tykwer, Potente starred in several Hollywood movies, most prominently The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy, starring Matt Damon. She briefly dated US actor Elijah Wood.
