Frank Quitely


 

Frank Quitely (January 18, 1968 - ) is the professional pseudonym of Scottish comic book artist Vincent Deighan. He was born in Glasgow, City of Glasgow. The name is a spoonerism of the phrase 'quite frankly'.

Following work on the Scottish small press title Electric Soup, Quitely was hired by Judge Dredd Megazine editor David Bishop. He was given work on Shimura by Robbie Morrison and the Missionary Man series by Gordon Rennie and quickly rose to prominence, being voted among the fans' favourite five artists in an end-of-year survey.

His American work includes stints drawing The Authority, (with writer and fellow Scot Mark Millar), New X-Men and The Invisibles. He is a frequent collaborator with Scottish writer Grant Morrison. In December 2004, he signed to a two-year exclusive contract with DC Comics, where he is illustrating All-Star Superman. The twelve issue series, written by Grant Morrison, is scheduled to begin publication towards the end of 2005.
