François-Adrien Boïeldieu
François-Adrien Boieldieu (December 16, 1775 – October 8, 1834) was a French composer, mainly of operas.

He was born in Rouen and had his first theatrical success in 1793. He spent a period as director of French opera at the Russian court in St. Petersburg, but returned to Paris in 1811.

Boieldieu was the principal composer of French opera in the first quarter of the nineteenth century. The overtures to The Calif of Baghdad and La dame blanche have remained popular concert pieces, as has his harp concerto.
