Franciscan
The Order of Friars Minor (commonly called the Franciscans) is a mendicant religious order of men tracing their origin to Francis of Assisi and following the Rule of St. Francis. The official Latin name is the Ordo Fratrum Minorum (literally, "Order of Little Brothers"); Francis thus referred to his followers as "Fratricelli", meaning "Little Brothers". Franciscan brothers are informally called friars. The order has historically been known as the greyfriars. Among the most important Franciscans are its founder, Francis, as well as Anthony of Padua, Bonaventure, John Duns Scotus, Roger Bacon, Alexander of Hales, William of Ockham, and Giovanni da Pian del Carpini.

HUGE apartment in GREAT neighborhood - Room for Rent (north beach / telegraph hill) $1095
I love my place but my roommate of 3 years (yes, I'll miss her dearly) is moving to LA so I'm looking for someone who will appreciate the apartment and location as much as we have. WHAT'S IT LIKE? Beautiful HUGE North Beach apartment/railroad style flat (it's 1,000 sf) with it's original SF charm. Old but - very San Franciscan:) It's actually a 3 bedroom (spare room can be used for an office/music room/entertaining room/spare room, etc.) to share with 1 other roommate (so just two of us). 3rd Floor (top) apartment, hardwood floors, views of Coit Tower and SF bay, living room, large kitchen, 1 bathroom. WHERE IS IT? The apartment is right below the crooked part of Lombard street and within walking distance to cute cafes, restaurants, laundry, Trader Joes, Safeway, the Wharf and Washington Sq Park. 20 minute walk to the Financial District. Permit street parking only - close to many Muni bus lines and the cable car (I usually take the bus or hail a cab). I'm a native and think it's the best neighborhood in the city - I love it here! WHAT AM I LIKE?: I'm a professional female in her 30's, in a creative field and am mellow, laid-back, responsible and considerate. I'm social and have lots of friends so have my own life but would be cool if we got along so well, we wanted to hang out too. I'm outgoing and enjoy wine now and then but am not a big partier (did enough of that in my 20's;). WHAT ARE YOU LIKE?: Looking for a respectful, nice, professional, roommate, who is clean, can pass a credit check, knows how to pay their bills on time and is generally a positive person. No smoking, no drama, just a solid, good person. I do have a cat (minky). Ok for ONE additional small dog/cat with a $300 pet deposit. Rent = $1,095 + utilities Move in = First month's rent + deposit of $1,250.00 Looking to fill by December 1, 2008 but can be flexible for the right person. Pictures are from when we first moved in - it's fully furnished now but I'm open to new furniture/decorating.
Sunny, cool Austin holiday housing swap (Austin, TX) 1bd
I'm a former San Franciscan who's resettled in Austin. I'm planning on returning to The City for three weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas (12/1 thru 12/19), and am interested in swapping my very cute, cozy, vintage-yet-modern/updated 1BR cottage in Austin's coolest neighborhood, Bouldin Creek, for your centrally located SF pad. Dogs are cool at my place (I have a large backyard, doggie door, and doggie built-ins in my kitchen), and I need a place in SF that is likewise OK with two well behaved dogs.

November and December - Cozy room in Lovely house! (excelsior / outer mission) $600
Hey There. So I am going to try and give you every detail I possibly can righttttt now: Includes all utilities: $600 for November $600 for December I actually pay $680 but the room is so small I figured I would lower it a bit. Together cable and wifi are about $15 bucks or so a month. The Move In: My schedule is nuts at the moment. I can meet you and show you all day Saturday. The House Itself: We have upstairs and downstairs. Although you are just subletting a room for a short period of time the entire house is yours. Use it as you please (with the utmost respect and love of course) Living Room Dining Room Kitchen 4 Bedrooms 2 Full BR One art kinda room Killer back porch looking over excelsior (you can see the Bay and Bernal and McClaren as well!) The Roomies: We are all in our early to mid twenties - intelligent fun loving good folks. A Floridian, a New Yorker and native San Franciscan. We are somewhat lax with things but we don't want too much of a mess. The Room: It is the smallest room in the house. It's small, I cannot tell you otherwise. But it is sweet with a window that you can climb onto the roof from. Bed will be here. I will clear out closet and drawers for you. There is also extra storage space if you need to keep more with you for the month. There is a table in the art room where I work on stuff that you can have full use of. This is def an ideal space for one who does not own a lot. Transportation: Parking is awesome at some points and a pain in the ass at others. 5 minute walk from Balboa BART Station. Around the corner from the M which runs into West Portal with transfers to any Muni line. Super close bike ride to Mission Street where you can find banks, Safeway, El Ferrlitos (my Spanish spelling not so great) and 24 hour laundry. Throw me an e-mail or call 631 682 4846! What's your deal, how long are you looking to stay, what are the most important things you are looking for in a place to stay? Cheers! Jen
