Frances Ruffelle
Frances Ruffelle is a Broadway actress best known for her award winning portrayal of Eponine in both the Broadway and London productions of the musical Les Misérables. She also represented the United Kingdom at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin with the song We Will Be Free, which finished tenth. The song, under its original title Lonely Symphony, was chosen for her by the British public from the eight she performed at the annual national pre-selection event for Eurovision, Song for Europe. When asked why she had accepted the invitation to compete, she jokingly replied that, since none of the four constituent nations of the UK (Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland) had qualified for that year's football World Cup finals, it was her responsibility to try to restore some national pride.
