A foundry is a factory which produces castings of metal, both ferrous and non-ferrous.

Most foundries specialise in particular metals, and have furnaces dedicated to these. For example a ferrous metal (steel) foundry will normally use a small electric furnace, while a lead foundry will use a cupola, similar to a small blast furnace.
