Fortune (magazine)

The magazine Fortune was founded by Time Magazine co-founder Henry Luce in 1930 at the outset of the Great Depression. It was considered America's first business journal.

• Fortune Global 500 - ranking of the top 500 companies globally, along with information about them.

In its early years Fortune employed a number of eminent artists as contributors, including writers Archibald MacLeish (1892-1982) and James Agee (1909-1955) as well as photographer Walker Evans (1903-1975).

For many years Fortune was published as a monthly, but as of September 2005, it is published fortnightly. It considers its purview the entire field of business, including the people, trends, companies, and ideas that characterize modern business. Its primary competitors are Forbes Magazine and Business Week.
