Fort Hood

Fort Hood is a census-designated place and US Army post located outside of Killeen Texas. Named after Confederate General John Bell Hood. As of 2004, the base had a total population of 34,790.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the base has a total area of 38.8 km² (15.0 mi²). 38.7 km² (14.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.33% water. Please note that these figures are for the main cantonment only, not the entire reservation.
