The German Foreign Office (in German, Auswärtiges Amt, or AA) is the foreign ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany, and is responsible for both its foreign politics and its relationship to the European Union. Since 1998, the ministry has been led by Joschka Fischer. Since 1966, the Federal Foreign Minister has also been by convention the Vice-Chancellor, although brief exceptions occurred in both 1982 and 1992-1993.
