Fordham Spire

Fordham Spire is a proposed 115 story skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois, U.S. designed by Santiago Calatrava for Chicago developer Christopher T. Carley. The proposed plan would measure the spire at 444m (1458 ft.) tall at the roof, and just over 610m (2,000 ft) tall including the spire. This would surpass Chicago's Sears Tower as the nation's tallest tower, as well as surpass the height of New York's planned Freedom Tower which would measure out at 1,776 ft. tall. Fordham Spire's proposed completion would be in 2009. The Fordham Spire would have 200 to 250 condos ranging from $600,000 to $5million on top of a 20-story hotel.

City Concerns

The proposed skyscraper plans to go up along the city's lakefront near Navy Pier, northeast of Chicago's Loop. Opposition from neighborhood residents concerned about being casualties of terrorist attacks and the increased congestion the building would bring have lobbied Mayor Daley not to approve the new megatower. Mayor Daley recently said he approved of the design saying it was environmentally friendly. Donald Trump immediately came out against this building saying it will be a target for terrorists and doesn't seem to even be a project.
