The song features John Lennon on the slide guitar as indicated by George saying "Go Johnnie Go" in the middle of the song. One can also hear mention of Elmore James ("Elmore James got nothing on this baby"), whose song "Madison Blues" sounds very similar to "For You Blue". At the start of the Let It Be version, Lennon can be heard saying, "The Queen says no to pot smoking FBI members."
