References in today's culture
A humourous reference to the flagellants can be seen in the Monty Python movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. In the beginning of the movie, some monks can be witnessed, hitting their own heads with books, while chanting "Pie Iesu Domine, Dona Eis Requiem."
