First Anglo-Powhatan War

The war between 1609 - 1613 the English and Native Americans in Jamestown was called the First Anglo-Powhatan War. During this war, Thomas West, 3rd Baron De La Warr introduced "Irish Tactics", where his troops raided Indian villages, burned houses, confiscated provisions, and torched cornfields. A peace settlement ended the war, and it was sealed by the marraige of Pochahontas to the colonist John Rolfe. This was the first inter-racial union in Virginia.
