Fiery Avenger

In the fantasy world of the MMORPG EverQuest, the Fiery Avenger (often shortened in conversation to FA) is a Paladin's two-handed sword. In the early days of EverQuest, the Fiery Avenger was inaccessible to players; instead, it was the trademark weapon of Aradune, the GM character of Brad McQuaid. This inaccessibility, combined with the sword's powerful stats and the possession of a particle effect which covered the blade with fire, turned the Fiery Avenger into a subject of desire and frequent discussion amongst many players. Eventually, a long and difficult quest was implemented, allowing Paladins to gain possession of this much-coveted weapon.

As more powerful weapons became available to players, the Fiery Avenger began to lose its allure in the eyes of many gamers. Now, the sword is quested for primarily as a prerequisite for gaining the Paladin's Epic weapon, the 'Fiery Defender'.
