Field Enterprises
Field Enterprises was a holding company (and later a conglomerate) formed by Marshall Field, Marshall Field Jr. and others to manage their newspaper holdings, particularly The Chicago Sun-Times. The company was founded on August 31, 1944, and was dissolved in April of 1984 after the sale of the Sun-Times, the last of their valuable assets, to Rupert Murdoch the previous year.
