Ferrets in literature and the media

  • The Internet puppet show "Funday PawPet Show" features several ferrets as main characters.
  • The children's book Zucchini by Barbara Dana is about a boy and his pet ferret. However, the author gets number of basic ferret facts wrong, claiming that they are vegetarian rodents.
  • In the computer game Zork, there are multiple references about people who own ferrets. In Zork Grand Inquisitor, Dalboz of Gurth says the following: " Ethereal Plains of Atrii, a place shared by sorcerers, snack cakes, former child stars, and people who own ferrets."
  • In the 1997 film Starship Troopers, a ferret named Cyrano (most likely a reference to Cyrano de Bergerac) was a pet of Neil Patrick Harris's character Carl Jenkins.
  • In the film Kindergarten Cop, the character played by Arnold Schwarzenegger (John Kimble) was also the owner of a pet ferret, which was later used as the mascot of his kindergarten class and was also responsible for biting the criminal during the climactic showdown near the end of the film.
  • In the 2004 romantic comedy Along Came Polly, Jennifer Aniston's character, Polly, owns a ferret named Rodolfo who often runs head-first into stationary objects (to great comedic effect). The ferret was also featured in the promotional material for the film.
  • The film Beastmaster has two ferrets which appear as major characters.
  • In the film ', a ferret appears in the Prancing Pony Inn scene.
  • In the Ewok film Caravan of Courage a ferret appears with actress Aubree Miller, who portrayed Cindel.
  • On the TV series, M*A*S*H, the character of Frank Burns was nicknamed "Ferret Face", which was also what the actor who played him , Larry Linville was called by his brother as a child.
  • In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Mad-Eye Moody turns Draco Malfoy into a white ferret and bounces him around the hallway after Draco tries to hex Harry Potter.
