The Farfisa has made famous appearances in music such as "96 Tears" by ? and the Mysterians and on the album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn by Pink Floyd, and more recently on albums by bands such as Electrelane, Green Day, Stereolab, and The American Analog Set. The distinctive "cheezy" electronic sound of a Farfisa organ is often used to impart a stereotypically kitschy, 1960s-retro sound to music.
