Fall guy
The term fall guy is literally used to mean a person who is a scapegoat, or someone at the butt of jokes. The word's origin dates back to the early 1900's, during the Harding administration.

Reportedly named for Albert Bacon Fall (November 26, 1861 - November 30, 1944) Senator from New Mexico and the Secretary of the Interior under President Warren G. Harding, notorious for his involvement in the Teapot Dome scandal.
