Factotum is a 1975 novel in which Henry Chinaski, Bukowski's alter ego, gets and loses jobs. The plot is simple but the tone is fascinating. Chinaski's journey through different jobs is always accompanied by alcohol, sex, women and the usual humourous and sharp wit and depression.
