Esztergom
Esztergom (German: Gran, Slovak: Ostrihom) is a small city in northern Hungary, about 60 km north-west of the capital Budapest. It lies in Komárom-Esztergom county, on the right bank of the river Danube, which forms the border with Slovakia there.

Esztergom was the capital of Hungary from the 10th till the mid-13th century and it was the Royal Seat until the canonized king Stephen I moved to ? and later kings to Buda (later merged into Budapest) in 1361.

One of the newest sights of Esztergom is the Mária Valéria bridge, connecting Esztergom with the village of ?túrovo in Slovakia. Originally it was inaugurated in 1895, but the receding German troops exploded it in 1944, and it was rebuilt in 2001 with the support of the European Union.
