Esai Morales

Esai Morales is an actor who has most recently starred as "Lt. Tony Rodriguez" on the ABC television police drama "NYPD Blue", and appearing in the PBS drama "American Family" and the Showtime show "Resurrection Blvd." A native New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent, he was born in Brooklyn on October 1, 1962, to immigrant parents who divorced when he was a baby. He is also a political activist—primarily as one of the founders of the Hispanic Foundation for the Arts—taking inspiration from his mother, who was an organizer for the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union.
