Ernst Otto Schlick

Ernst Otto Schlick (June 16 1840–1913) was a German Engineer. He, along with Henry Bessemer attempted to solve the problem of the rolling of ships by installing large heavy gyroscopes. Although these proved to be too cumbersome, they are the ancestors of the gyroscopes used in autopilots.
