Eric Carle
![]() Eric Carle is a children's book author and illustrator, most famous for his book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which has been translated into 50 languages. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Carle was born in 1929 Syracuse, New York and moved to Germany when he was six. He moved to New York City in 1952 and landed a job as a graphic designer. He later moved to Northampton, Massachusetts, where he still resides today. The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, a museum devoted to children's books and founded by Carle and his wife, opened in 2002 in nearby Amherst. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
