Enumclaw, Washington
Enumclaw is a city located in King County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 11,116. Its name derives from a local Native American word meaning "strong wind" or "thundering noise."

Enumclaw was homesteaded in 1879 by Frank and Mary Stevenson. The first plats were filed six years later, and the city was incorporated on January 27, 1913.

It is home to the Enumclaw Courier-Herald newspaper and Mutual of Enumclaw, an insurer doing business in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah. Enumclaw is the hometown of NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne.
