Emporia State University
Emporia State University (ESU) is a comprehensive Regents university serving residents of Kansas. Located in the Bluestem Region of the Flint Hills , ESU's location is in proximity to the three major metropolitan areas of Kansas; Wichita, Topeka, and Kansas City. The Emporia State University campus, originally 20 acres (80,000 m²), covers 200 acres (800,000 m²) . ESU is located in the city of Emporia (on the Kansas Turnpike), in Lyon County. Originally known as the Kansas State Normal, the school has gone through several names. These include:

The Teacher's College is the university's college of education. The Teacher's College was recently cited as one of the top four teacher preparation programs in the United States along with Stanford University, Alverno College, and the University of Virginia.

The School of Library and Information Management (SLIM) is well respected, as is the Department of Instructional Design and Technology (IDT) that offers the only instructional design and Technology Master of Science degree in Kansas. IDT's Master of Science degree is offered entirely online. The University is the home of the William Allen White library and the National Teachers Hall of Fame. The ESU mascot is the Hornet.
