Emancipation (album)
Emancipation is a 1996 triple-CD album by (formerly known as Prince). The title refers to is 's freedom from his contract with Warner Bros. Records, with whom he had a contentious relationship. The album holds the Guinness World Record for the longest album of all time, clocking in at exactly three hours; one hour per disc. Emancipation peaked at #18 in the UK and #11 in the USA, reaching double platinum status. The RIAA triples the amount of sales for triple albums to figure out its status, so the album actually sold less than a million copies. Many fans were shocked by the atrocious single choices from Emancipation, and felt that the album could have done much better with wiser single releases.
