Elwood, Indiana
Elwood is a city located in Madison County, Indiana. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 9,737. Elwood is most famous as the birthplace of Wendell Willkie, the 1940 Republican presidential candidate who unsuccessfully challenged FDR. An Indiana Historical Society marker sits at the site of his acceptance speech in Callaway Park.
