Elis Prefecture

Elis (Modern Greek: Ηλεία - Ileía, also Ilia and Elia) is a prefecture in the Western Peloponnese and in Western portion of Greece. The prefecture is part of the periphery of West Greece. It covers the area of ancient Elis, and was formerly a department. Its capital is Pyrgos.
