Eleonore Gonzaga


 

Eleonore Gonzaga (23 September 1598 - 27 June 1655), also known as Eleonore of Gonzaga, was the wife of Ferdinand II, Holy Roman Emperor.

Born in Mantua, her parents were Vincenzo Gonzaga (Duke Vincenzo I Gonzaga of Mantua) (1562-1612) and Eleonora Medici (Eleonora de Medici) (1567-1611).

Eleonora, famous for her singular beauty, married Ferdinand in Innsbruck 1622. They had no children, but she became stepmother to Ferdinand's children from his previous marriage.
