Elder High School
Archbishop Elder High School is a parochial high school in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.
Sports and Facilities
The high school is the home of "The Pit" http://www.cincinnati.com/local/westside/E70html_05202003__GNWthepit_Other.html, the premier high school football stadium in the city. Construction began in the 1930s and was completed in December 1947. The stadium seats 10,000, although it has held more on many occasions. In May, 1987 the "moving" Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall http://www.themovingwall.org/ was displayed at the stadium. The wall contains the names of 11 Elder High School graduates who died in the Vietnam War, the most of any Ohio high school. The 2005 Ohio State Boy's Baseball Championship Team, Division 1 is Elder High School.{{fn|1}} This was a record 12th State Championship.{{fn|2}} The school has won at least one state championship in every decade since the 1940's and the baseball team was ranked 8th in the nation in 2005.{{fn|3}}. In addition to Baseball, Elder High School has won multiple state championships in every major sport including; Football, Basketball, Cross Country, and Volleyball, and has been followed by their faithful known as the "Elder Nation." http://www.cincinnati.com/preps/2002/12/01/wwwprep2doc1.html.
