Eisner Award
An Eisner Award is given for creative achievement in comic books, one of the most prestigious such awards in North America. The full name is the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, in honor of Will Eisner's lifelong contributions to the medium; Eisner was a regular participant in the awards ceremony until his death. The award was created in response to discontinuation of the Kirby Awards after 1987. Each award is nominated by a five member panel, voted on by comic book professionals, and presented at the annual Comic-Con International convention held in San Diego, California. The Eisners were not presented in 1990.
