Eidolons
An eidolon is a shadow or spirit. In this sense it is used in a variety of works:

- Eidolons is a short story by American science fiction author Harlan Ellison. It won the 1989 Locus poll award for best short story. It is featured in the story collection Angry Candy.
- Eidolons also happen to be the subject of one of Walt Whitman's poems.
- Eidolons are also the name of the magical beasts that can be summoned in the RPG Final Fantasy IX. Some Eidolons are: Bahamut, Shiva, Ramuh, Ifrit, Leviathain, Odin, Carbuncle, Fefnir, and Phoenix.
