Eckhart Tolle
Eckhart Tolle is a contemporary writer on spirituality who is sometimes characterized as New Age. His non-fiction best-seller, The Power of Now, (ISBN 1577314808) describes his experience of enlightenment after suffering long periods of depression. The book teaches that one can quiet one's mind by becoming a witness to one's thoughts and feelings. This allows you to discover your ever-present Beingness, leading to natural peace, joy, and happiness (see Consciousness raising). His second book is entitled Stillness Speaks. He has also recorded numerous audio interviews and a video. Tolle's teachings are nonsectarian and comparable to that of Krishnamurti and Nisargadatta Maharaj. His third book, "A New Earth" has been completed and is due out on 27th October 2005
